A study was performed to determine whether amoxicillin-clavulanic acid combination is effective for treating Chlamydia trachomatis endocervicitis. The study involved 32 patients with culture-proven endocervical infection and were treated with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid orally 3 times a day for 10 days. The results demonstrated that all patients treated with this combination were cured of cervicitis. On follow-up visit, all of them were free of C. trachomatis. Thus, it can be suggested that amoxicillin-clavulanic acid appears to be an effective option for eradicating C. trachomatis and treating cervicitis.
